SGT Lab

Social Ground Truth Lab (SGT Lab) is a research publication initiative with editorial independence, focused on empirically describing how people respond to home AI and robotics in real-world domestic contexts in Japan.

Here, “editorial independence” refers to independence from sponsor, client, purchaser, or third-party influence over definitions, scales, QC rules, and publication decisions. It also means that Synforte’s commercial interests and engagements do not provide any leverage to alter measurement specifications, QC rules, or publication decisions. It does not imply corporate separation.

The lab publishes descriptive, non-normative research materials—including white papers and reference artifacts— that report observed distributions of Reluctance (self-reported psychological hesitation), together with relevant contextual information.

Research position

SGT Lab publishes descriptive, non-normative materials intended to document observed responses at a specific point in time. Publications are provided as reference information for research, internal review, product discussion, and governance dialogue. SGT Lab does not provide prescriptive advice, optimization guidance, or suitability determinations.

Citation & reuse:
A single figure, table, or slide from this site may be reused without prior permission for research, internal documentation, or audit/compliance submissions, provided the source is clearly cited and no endorsement by SGT Lab or Synforte Inc. is implied.

Editorial and operational responsibility

Research management and editorial responsibility for SGT Lab publications is held by:

Research manager & editorial responsibility:
K. Araya (Synforte Inc., Japan)

Operational responsibility for website maintenance, publication infrastructure, and distribution operations is held by Synforte Inc. (Japan).

Funding and conflict-of-interest disclosure

As of the latest update, baseline operations for this website and its publication infrastructure are funded by Synforte Inc. (Japan). If external funding is accepted in the future, it will be disclosed on this page together with any applicable conditions.

To support year-over-year comparability and to reduce conflicts of interest, SGT Lab follows these principles:

  • Fixed measurement specification: Core definitions and scales are fixed to support year-over-year comparability.
  • No paid changes to measurement or published results: No sponsor, purchaser, requester, or third party can obtain changes to definitions, scales, QC rules, or published results in exchange for payment or other consideration.
  • Publication integrity: Public materials report aggregate distributions only and do not provide prescriptive advice.
  • Change management: If a correction is necessary, it is recorded as a versioned update with an explanation of what changed and why.

Documentation design (self-declared)

SGT Lab structures methodological disclosures with reference to AAPOR Transparency Initiative (TI) disclosure elements, operates under documented SOPs informed by ISO 20252:2019 service requirements, and reflects the TRUST Principles in repository design (Transparency, Responsibility, User focus, Sustainability, Technology).

These are self-declared design and operating choices and do not claim TI certification or ISO certification. If this status changes in the future, it will be explicitly disclosed on this page. A public summary of measurement scope is provided; verbatim item wordings and full response options are maintained as controlled documentation.

Measurement framework

SGT Lab uses the J-HAB (Japan Home AI Boundary) framework to organize observed variation in psychological reluctance toward home AI across spatial, behavioral, and data-governance contexts.

See Methodology for the fixed measurement scope and the “what this measurement is / is not” block.

Research integrity contact

We welcome messages related to SGT Lab and its publications. Typical topics include:

  • Corrections or errata related to published pages (metadata, wording, version notes)
  • Citation and bibliographic reference checks
  • General questions about the scope of what is measured (interpretation of public materials)
  • Academic collaboration inquiries (conceptual discussion)

To keep this site focused on publication records and research integrity, this page does not process requests for data provision, data reuse, licensing, or commercial services.
