Purpose

This page explains the general policy governing the existence and handling of research artifacts related to SGT Lab publications.

It is intended to provide transparency regarding what categories of artifacts may exist, what is outside scope, and how access is intentionally constrained, without turning this site into an access request or sales channel.

This page is the primary policy reference for access-related conditions referenced in Methodology and Errata & Corrections. Issue pages may specify availability and constraints for a given release.

This policy page is subject to versioned updates; material changes are recorded in Errata & Corrections.

Types of artifacts (illustrative)

Depending on the publication and research cycle, the following categories of artifacts may exist as part of SGT Lab research outputs. Availability varies by issue and version.

  • Clean datasets: De-identified analysis datasets derived from survey responses (e.g., CSV format), prepared under versioned specifications and consistent coding rules. (De-identification reduces risk but does not imply zero re-identification risk.)
  • Derived tables: Aggregated or segmented tables used internally or in publications, including reference tables and cross-tabulations.
  • Codebooks / data dictionaries: Documentation describing variables, labels, scales, and question groupings.
  • Manifests and release notes: Records describing version identifiers, generation dates, and documented changes between releases where applicable.

The presence of these categories does not imply that all artifacts are publicly released or routinely provided.

Outside scope

SGT Lab publications and related artifacts are descriptive and non-normative. SGT Lab does not provide the following:

  • Legal, regulatory, or compliance determinations
  • Certification outcomes or audit judgments
  • Custom revisions of published results or narratives on request
  • Advice, recommendations, or prescriptive guidance
  • Bespoke analysis presented as decision outcomes

Access principles

Where access to certain artifacts is considered outside of public materials, it is governed by the following principles:

  • Consistency: Definitions, scales, coding rules, and aggregation logic are fixed and are not altered based on requester preferences.
  • Versioning: Artifacts are associated with specific publication versions and dates, and are not mixed across versions.
  • Publication record integrity: Provision of artifacts does not revise the published record. SGT Lab does not alter published results, interpretations, or conclusions based on requester preferences.
  • Responsible handling: Access may be declined where there are material concerns regarding privacy protection, re-identification risk, contractual restrictions (e.g., panel-provider terms), or credible risk of harmful or deceptive downstream use.

Access channels

To preserve the integrity, neutrality, and reference-oriented nature of this site, SGT Lab does not process data access requests, licensing inquiries, or usage applications through sgtlab.org.

Where independent verification is required (e.g., audit or academic replication), access (if granted) is handled through a separate administrative process, under written terms consistent with this policy.

This page exists to clarify scope and principles only, not to serve as an application or negotiation interface.

Relationship to other pages

Details on measurement scope, versioned specifications, and limitations are described in Methodology.

Issue-specific information (e.g., sample size, fieldwork period) is documented in the corresponding White Paper issue record.

Corrections, version notes, and public change records are maintained separately via Errata & Corrections.
